Venues:
All competition events and all official practices will be held at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. All unofficial practices will be held at the Atlanta Ice Forum. The two venues being used for the Sectional Championships are within 1/2 mile of each other. Event Arena: ![]() The Arena at Gwinnett Center is a state-of-the-art facility that opened February 2003 and has already hosted acts including the Novice and Junior portions of the 2004 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Coldplay, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, plus a myriad of others. Ideal for family shows (Disney on Ice) and large conventions, the Arena is also the home of the Gwinnett Gladiators minor league hockey team. The seating capacity at The Arena at Gwinnett Center for the 2006 Eastern Synchronized Team Skating Sectional Championships is approximately 10,000, and will be on a general admission basis. Gwinnett Center is located at 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth, Georgia 30097, approximately 30 minutes north of downtown Atlanta, immediately off I-85 in the heart of the thriving Sugarloaf business district. Traveling North
on I-85 take Exit 108/Sugarloaf Parkway. Turn right off the exit, go
back under the Interstate and cross over Satellite Boulevard. The Center
will be on your left. To Download MapQuest Maps and/or Driving Directions Click Here. Unofficial Practices: The Atlanta IceForum operates Georgia's finest ice skating facilities located in Duluth, Georgia. The two
ice surfaces in the Atlanta IceForum are regulation NHL size (200' x 85'). In addition, the facility boasts a full service snack bar, full service restaurant, an MVP Pro Shop for all
your skating needs, video games, skate sharpening and repair service, hundreds of skate rentals (figure and hockey skates), seating for
spectators, locker rooms with showers, large concourse areas and ample parking.
The Duluth facility opened in September 1994, and is proud to be the Home of the Atlanta Thrashers, Atlanta's NHL franchise that trains and practices regularly at the facility. Recent improvements in Duluth include Breakaway Grill, a full service restaurant and bar overlooking the Thrashers' practice ice. Located at 2300 Satellite Boulevard, which is less than one mile from The Arena at Gwinnett Center.
