What is Synchronized Skating  
   
Volunteers:

A volunteer force of approximately 200 people are needed for the 2006 Eastern Synchronized Team Skating Sectional Championships. What better way to experience the exciting sport of synchronized skating than to be a volunteer at one of the largest competitions.

Thank you for your interest in participating in the championships as a volunteer.

Volunteer Expectation: 

Two shifts of six hours each.

Volunteer Benefits:

  1. One (1) volunteer T-shirt.
  2. Two (2) tickets for admission to the Championships on both Friday, January 27, 2006 and Saturday, January 28, 2006. 

Volunteer Assignment Areas:

  • Accounting - Assist official U.S. Figure Skating accountants during the competition.
  • Boutique - Sell official event programs and lapel pins on the concourse of the competition venue. Must be 18 or older and should be organized, articulate and financially responsible. 
  • Competition Services - This committee is comprised of several different committees, each managing separate functional areas of the competition.
  • Credential Monitors - Volunteers work with members of the security committee and are responsible for assisting the professional security staff in reviewing the credentials of all participants seeking access to restricted areas of the event. 
  • Hospitality - Volunteers are assigned to the arenas to monitor access and assist in the management of the hospitality lounges serving the officials and volunteers. 
  • Ice Monitors - Responsible for check-in of skaters, and for informing the skaters and coaches of the skating order during the competition and practices. 
  • Information/Greeters - The information volunteers are the ambassadors of the Championships. Their job is to manage and staff the official information desks at the arena, and answer questions and provide information about the Championships to athletes, coaches, officials and spectators. 
  • Music / Announcing - Volunteers will work at the venues to assist in playing music and also announce the teams and other information at all official and unofficial practice sessions. Announcers should be organized, articulate and have a reasonable knowledge of the sport. 
  • Operations Services and Support - Operations volunteers will work in a number of different areas either assisting in the set-up of equipment and materials at the arenas, installing and removing directional signage at all venues and hotels, moving equipment, furniture and supplies between venues and other assignments as needed. 
  • Registration/Credentials - Volunteers work in advance of Championships to prepare credentials, registration packets and materials for distribution to teams participating in the Championships and work during the Championships distributing credentials and, packets to the teams and verifying identification. 
  • Runners - Distribute paperwork between referees, accounting and results posting. 
  • Transportation - Volunteers of the transportation committee will assist in the transportation of the officials between the airport, arena and hotel for officials. Transportation volunteers also serve as ambassadors and greeters to the officials as they board and exit the shuttle vans. 
  • Volunteers - The volunteer committee is the human resources center of the Championships. This committee must recruit, organize, schedule, manage and support approximately 200 local volunteers for the event. Assignments include staffing the volunteer centers at the arena to verify volunteer check-in, report absentees, assign substitutes, and on any given day, serve as a substitute volunteer for absentees from any committee. 
  • Anywhere - Volunteers will be assigned where most needed and based on whatever background information is included with the application.
